Homecoming 2012

Homecoming 2012; Service and Sermon

The singing portion of the service started at 10am with Front Porch Gospel.  They blessed our hearts as they shared the old songs with us.  Brother J C Malloyed shared his testimony that was an introduction to the preacher for the day—Brother Joe Powers. Joe is one of 4 preachers who received their call as members of our church. The others were Joe’s son Ernie, Glenn Powers, David Neitch.

The Message

The Gospel Truth

There had to be a death before there could be a bride.  It took a death at Calvary so we could be saved.  God’s Word in the Old Testament is full of types and shadows of what was to come.  Your salvation is not hinged on what you did.  Paul said I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.  It’s for His glory.  He wants our praise, not lip service but service from the heart.  If Jesus is in your heart, you will tell it.

Do you hope you’re saved or think you’re saved?  The Bible says you can know you’re saved.  Salvation is free, and you can have it if you want it.  Church, don’t be a hindrance to others who want to be saved.  If your finger points anywhere it should be toward heaven and Jesus Christ.  He is the one who can help you if you let him.  That’s how God fixed it.  I had to realize I wasn’t anything.  How long has it been since the tears flowed over some lost soul?  We need to be brought to where we feel it.  God is able; we need to bear witness of the Lord.

Don’t talk about the plan of salvation.  Salvation is a condition that must be met.  Romans 10:9-10 says that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  A person without Jesus in his heart will go body and soul to hell and burn forever.  To avoid that, one must believe Jesus and meet the conditions.  He is the sacrifice.  When he arose on the third day, he came out of the grave with the keys to death, hell and the grave.  The devil is not chained, but he will be one day.  I’m looking forward to that day.

Do you believe in the Lord?  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  The blood has to cover your sins.  Let him have the right of way in your life.  If there was ever a time to realize what Jesus did for us it is now.  It is time to accept him.

Do you really know that you’ve accepted what Jesus did for you?  Are you saved?
