The Junior/Teen Sunday School Class has been studying the Gospel of John for over two quarters. One of the first things we discussed was the purpose of the Gospel of John as recorded in John 20:30, 31; and then we studied the signs or miracles of Jesus, the “I Am” verses, the great sermons of Jesus, and the farewell prayer of Jesus for his Disciples as recorded in John 17.

This Quarter we are finishing up our study of the Gospel of John by considering “Encounters with Jesus.” We will be studying the following topics: Dealing with Doubt, Respecting God, Receiving New Life in Christ, Coping with Crisis, Accepting God’s Incredible Gift and God’s Love, Facing Death, Making Wise “Investments”, Handling Opposition, Producing Fruit in Our Lives, Recognizing the Holy Spirit, and Believing the Impossible.

We have a wonderful group of young people in our class. Each one, Jeremy, Christopher, Michael, April, Michelle, and Kelsey, brings something special to our class each Sunday morning. Jeremy and Christopher love to get to class a little early to play chess before class begins; April, Kelsy, and Michelle, enjoy working a ”large” puzzle before class; and when Christopher is not playing chess, Michael likes to challenge him to a game of Chinese Checkers. We also observe birthdays in our class by bringing muffins and chocolate milk on the week one of us completes another trip around the sun.

During the warm months we try to go on Creeper Trail bike rides. Last year our class hosted a meal for the “Young at Heart” by dressing like the characters of The Wizard of Oz and serving their meal; we are planning another meal for them this year.

Each of the members of our class brought items in for care packages for Angela Emerick, Missionary to Russia; for Sgt. Corey Sexton who is in the National Guard and serving in Iraq; and for Melody, who once attended our Church and is now battling cancer.

We enjoy working with the Junior/Teen Sunday School Class and have been blessed to see their eagerness to learn more about God’s Word. Our prayer is that the Lord will keep his hand on their lives and they will allow the Lord to lead and guide them each day of their lives.

<div style="text-align: justify;">Margaret and I made our way down to our Sunday
School class one Sunday morning a few weeks ago as usual. We're usually
the first ones there, but this particular Sunday Alicia and Haley Louthian were
waiting on us.

We were having "good morning, glad you're here
today" conversation and I pulled out the flash cards for the Sunday School
lesson. It was evident that the lesson was about
Noah and the ark. Alicia proceeded to tell us the story about Noah and his
building of the ark and the sailing of the ark with lots of minor details.
Both Margaret and I were quite amazed and impressed. It was truly a
blessing to hear this from a child.

<div style="text-align: justify;">

It makes me all the more aware that our children
take in what they hear and retain it more than we can imagine. It makes me
realize the importance of being a Sunday School teacher and the responsibility
Margaret and I have for forty-five minutes each Sunday morning to teach the
children. Pray for us as we teach the Crusaders for
Christ.

<span size="2" style="font-family: Arial;">
The Crusaders have won the attendance banner for the past several weeks. Bob Hill has been giving it out each Sunday stating that we might as well leave the banner in their class.

<div style="text-align: center;"><span size="2" style="background-color: #ffff80;">
Good job, Crusaders!!
